Hi folks,
I am a male military macaw, they call me Charlie (aka Purdy Bird). My age
in unknown but the nice folks at NPRPF think I am still a young bird maybe
ten years old or so. I am pretty small for a military but that makes me
really cute (if I do say so myself:) I tend to like my cage alot, so coming
out of it on a hand is still a bit challenging for me but with the right
person using positive methods of encouragement and alot of gentle handling I
should be an expert in no time. I eat pretty well, enjoying my cooked
lentils, grains, etc. sprouts, fresh vegetables. I am enjoying the head scritches my foster mom gives me a LOT and I love to go out into the aviary to play and bathe. If you have a good deal of avian
experince, and operant conditioning wouldn't hurt either, this bird would be a wonderful flock member.
I AM after all a macaw, I prefer females and tend toward overbonding. With patience and awareness, I could like everybody in the family. If you have enough knowledge to avoid the pitfalls and give me a forever home, give the nice folks at NPRPF a call.
